CC3351: 802.11ax partial/full RU control question

Part Number: CC3351

Hello TI.

I have a question regarding partial and full RU control for 802.11ax for the CC3351.  Our certification partner is asking about how to control 802.11ax partial and full RU.  I am not extremely familiar with 802.11ax RU and I was hoping for some guidance.

Questions 6 and 7 are posed.  I believe answer 6 is correct, but I am not sure about the second part, which is asking how to control RU for 802.11ax.

For question 7, I'm not sure what impact having identical PSD for full and partial RU would have.

I have attached a screenshot of the 802.11ax TB preamble type from the SimpleLink Wi-Fi Toolbox.   Any assistance would be great!

Thanks!

  • Hey Edward,

I would consult our Radio Tool User guide for more details on the GUI, but in short here is my feedback:

The default settings that show up when enabling 11ax TB are okay, test house will only need to adjust:

    • Band
    • Channel
    • TX power
    • RU allocation
    • Antenna number (if using diversity)

Packet size and delay can be adjusted for Duty cycle needs, but the default should be fine and the test house should just add Duty factor to the results if needed.

For 7 the question is confusing to be honest. However, I assume it's supposed to be the same as what I was asked by my test house to determine if RU testing was needed:

If the Partial RU PSD values are equal to or less than the full RU, then no testing on the partial RU has to be done.

This is not the case though as the partial RU's will have a higher PSD. You can go here to obtain our certification reports for the CC3351MOD (our module using this chipset) to see the results of our testing.
