Dear Support Team,
CC3000 is designed to work in a Station mode.
Could you elaborate whether CC3000 supports Ad-Hoc mode as well?

Nir

Hi!
Ad-hoc mode will never be supported by CC3000. So, does it mean that CC3000 could not connect to Ad-hoc initiated from another device(laptop, for example)?
Is there any difference for CC3000 to connect to AP or Ad-Hoc?
Thank you.
Dmitry,
There is a difference between Direct connection and Ad-hoc mode. Its how they talk.
Here is some more information on Wikipeida: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Direct

Please Verify if this answers your question. Thank you!
CC3000 does not support AD-HOC mode.

You can config your Laptop as an AP an you can connect to your laptorp directly.
Hi Burak DERYA / TI Member,
We just started exploring TiWi-SL module with our customer host processor. I read at many places that Ad-Hoc mode is not supported by CC300. But would it be possible to make laptop as AP and connect the TiWi module directly to laptop? Main intention is to know the wireless connectivity between PC and TiWi-SL/CC3000 without any router. Someone please clarify on this.
What is major difference in these configurations: a) Ad-Hoc b) Connection via AP on PC.
Thanks in advance
Thats good for Windows 7, but what about Windows 8 (where there is no option to create Ad-hoc network)?
Is there any way to directly connect the CC3000 to a Windows 8 tablet without using a router?
Hi,
As you explained above I can create the network using Set up a new connection network, over there I can choose Set up a wireless ad hoc (Computer to Computer) network to create a network and I can use this network name and password to establish connection with CC3000 Wi Fi chip.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Actually I can establish a connection in between PC(win7) and CC3000 using soft access point but the problem with soft access point is that it goes away as soon as I restart the PC.
So I need some way around where I can establish network once in my PC and I can use it all time.
My basic agenda of clearing a doubt is, I dont want to use router in between PC and CC3000, so is there any other soultion other then soft access point that I can use to establish peer to peer connection in between PC and CC3000.
Please share your thought on it.. it is being long time that no one is looking into the thread
Hi Abhishek,
This thread is closed, which is why nobody is looking at it. Please start a new thread if you have a question. The CC3000 does not have peer to peer capabilities, so therefore an access point is always needed.
Thanks,
Aaron
Hi,
CC3000 doesn't support any way of direct communication with other devices. It can only work as station, meaning all communication from the device must be done through an AP. Adhoc and p2p are not supported due to that. I hope this clarifies.
