CC3551E: CC3551E ANCS/AMS Support and GATT Client Example Request

Hi TI Team,

I am working with the CC3551E BLE stack and noticed that the GATT Client feature is marked as “Under Development” in the documentation.

I would like to implement:
* ANCS (Apple Notification Center Service)
* AMS (Apple Media Service)

Both services require GATT Client functionality, including:
* Service and characteristic discovery
* Notification subscription
* Characteristic read/write
* Secure pairing and bonding

Could you please clarify:

1. Does the current CC3551E SDK support the required GATT Client procedures for ANCS and AMS?
2. Are there any example projects or reference implementations available for:
* ANCS client
* AMS client
3. Is there any internal/demo code available that can help implement ANCS/AMS on CC3551E?
4. Are ANCS and AMS officially supported or planned for future SDK releases?
5. If GATT Client is still incomplete, are there any lower ATT-layer APIs that can be used as a workaround?

Any sample code or implementation guidance would be very helpful.

Hi Vignesh,

Since you're looking for service and characteristic discovery, notification subscription, characteristic read / write, and secure pairing / bonding, I suggest you take a look at our network terminal example and interact with the BLE commands.

You can play around with pairing and bonding as well as roughly 4 characteristics that you can read and write to, and 1 that can send notifications.

Hi Vignesh,

I'll need to look into those clients to get you a better answer. I will spend some time tomorrow but I will be back from business travel on Sunday and can continue gathering more information on Monday.

Hi vignesh,

There isn't really a ANCS or AMS client reference, but I would start with the blecent example app in the SDK under third party -> nimble and take some inspiration from it.

The device acts as the central in both cases (subscribe to certain sources) which some blecent code should help achieve.
