There is a diagram illustrating the contents of the module in addition to the CC3000 itself.
I've been through the documents. There is no information on the type of chip packaging in there. Someone on another forum mentiond that the chip packaging is non-standard and to use it I would need to have my own board fabricated and then reflow solder the chip on. This, of course, is unless I want to use one of the evaluation boards offered with the chip and antenna, which I am trying to avoid.
This is correct. You will need to design your own printed circuit board to accept the module and connect to your MCU of choice.
