Surprised to see Unix BSD socket() and select() in CC3000 sample code.

Hi All,

on the http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Wi-Fi_Downloads

page there is a project called

CC3000+FRAM Home Automation Application

and in the source code main.c is see (yes I quite happy seeing that) Unix BSD like kernel call

select()

and similar interface to socket library.

My question is: is this may be a application that uses RTOS or has this always been available? I never seen these Unix style calls in MSP430 code. And this might be a very good reason to move over to MSP430 + CC3000. The only sad news is that only 4 socket file descriptors can be used.

Thanks a lot in advantage.
