What prevent HFP or HSP with WL1271 on the AM335xEVM-SK?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1271

Hello,

I've managed to test out WiFi and BT-A2DP on the EVM-SK.  I'd like to try HSP or HFP to get audio prompts wirelessly out of the board to a basic headset, but the documentation indicates that neither of these are supported by Linux (or Android).

All the pins look to be connected on the schematic for PCM and UART to the BT side.

What does one need to do to enable these protocols?  Is there a patch?  Will these be supported in a newer release of Linux?

Thanks!

James

  •  Hi James,

Ideal way of testing HFP/HSP is to make sure that the PCM lines are configured correctly from the InitScript. And establish a SLC connection(connect BT headset) and placing a MO/MT call. For this you need to have modem support.

If you are testing on android you have applications available in the marker(ex. Voice dial application) which can be used to test SCO(HFP/HFP) without modem support.

Could you please elaborate on what is your platform you are using to test.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Sundeep.

  • Sundeep,

Thank you for the reply.  I will look into your suggestions and see if I can establish the SLC connection.

I was under the impression that I needed to get ALSA to open a PCM port to the WL1271 (via SCO?).  In another post  on TIE2E, I recall reading that the current version of Linux does not support this.  Not sure why, however.  On the HW it looks as if all the wires are hooked up to the part.  There are other posts that indicate that in earlier version of Arago Linux, HFP was supported.

My platform is the AM335xEVM-SK for hardware and I'm using the Arago Linux supplied by TI.  I don't need the call initiate and dialing support as the link I'm hooking up to is not a phone.  My application is like an intercom using a wireless modem connected via serial to the EVM-SK.  I only need voice quality audio in/out of the board (8ksps, 16bit) via bluetooth.

    Any suggestion are always welcome!

    Thank you again,

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi James,

In the SDK you are using HFP/HSP are not supported.

    Thanks & Regards,
