Maximum number of CC3000 nodes in a network for industrial monitor application

Hi All,

The idea I have is to use the CC3000 WiFi module  to transmit data to a WiFi gateway.

The data rate is low around 11 data bytes per second. ( this does not include the overhead data).

I am currently using Zigbee, but that seems to top out at 65-70 packets per second with total data with overhead of 28 bytes.  Means that I have to use a gateway for every 60 or so machines.  Looking to monitor hundreds of machines. All in an open area, ( factory floor). Area would be about 50m x 60m per plant.

Could this do the trick, say monitor 200 or so machines in a plant? The radio is connected to mains supply, and power is not an issue.
