CC3000 IRQ Pin Hardware Requirements

Does the CC3000 always drive the IRQ pin to a valid logic state (0V / 3.3V) or is it recommended that an external pull up resistor (e.g. 10 kOhm) to 3.3V be supplied?

The data sheet suggests it forces a high logic state. I don't use a pull up and so far have not experienced any issues that I could attribute to this.
