Basic Wi-Fi example application doesn't work after sending a 'delete profile' command

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2553

I have a CC3000 boost board with a MSP430G2553 launch pad, so you know, sort of the standard evaluation board.  I'm trying out the Basic Wi-Fi Application and using Smart Config to connect the CC3000 to my Wi-Fi network. (as described here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slab067/slab067.pdf)

  It was working at first, I connected once, and then each time I reset the micro-controller (through the CSS debugger or by cycling the power), it would reconnect.  I sent some UDP packets to a computer on the LAN, it was great.

Then, I wanted to connect to a different Wi-Fi network.  So, I sent the command to 'delete profile' (0a), and it stopped working.  I can't get it to connect to the original network, or any new network.

I can't figure out what's going on.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?  Or any ideas about where to look?

  • I began to think that my problem was that I had filled up the seven policy spots with all my attempts to do a simple config, and I looked at the implementation of the DEL_POLICY command and it only sets connection policy to (0,0,0), it doesn't actually delete policies.  It seems a little weird.

    So, I ran

    wlan_ioctl_del_profile(255);

    to make sure all old policies are deleted.  It didn't help, I still can't connect with simple config.  What the heck is going on here?

  • Hi Luke,

    I have a few questions:

    1) Does a manual connect with wlan_connect() work for you?

    2) Did you try adding a profile again and resetting the connection poicies other than 0,0,0?

    3) After the adding a new profile did you reset the module by calling wlan_stop() and then wlan_start()?

    Please try something like below:

    At the beginning of the program after InitDriver, add

    1. wlan_ioctl_set_connection_policy(0, 0, 0);
      wlan_ioctl_del_profile(255);
    2. Do a wlan_connect() and then wait for the connection.
    3. Try a fast connect wlan_ioctl_set_connection_policy(0, 1, 0);
    4. Follow the sequence of wlan_stop() -- delay -- wlan_start(0)
    5. Wait for the connection.

    Please let me know where you get stuck in the above sequence.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Raghavendra
