directly connecting cc3000 module to MSP-EXP430G2

Hi..I am attempting using the CC3000 module by directly connecting it to MSP-EXP430G2. I wanted to know if we can connect cc3000 module to the MSP-EXP430G2 directly instead of using the CC3000 boost? I did the connections using its pin discriptions and tried running the basic Wi-Fi application. There seems to be some error in recieving data from CC3000. The hyperterminal window opens but doesn't display anything. I hooked it up to a CRO. The data seems to transmitting from MCU to CC3000 but the response from cc3000 to MCU is low after 24 clock cycles and becomes high only after all the clock cycles are completed. Please do help in any way possible. Thanks

Hi Poorvaja,

Do you want to connect CC3000 MOD instead of CC3000 Boost? If yes, then you cannot use CC3000 MOD on MSP430G2.

Have you flashed the relevant patches using the patch programmer utility(http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Patch_Programmer_pre_SP1.12)? And also please let me know the version on host driver that you are using?

For getting the logs on the terminal, please follow the document (http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slab067/slab067.pdf) and on page 4, follow the jumper instructions to use the Hardware UART.

Hi Raghavendra,

Yes I want to connect CC3000 MOD to the MSP430G2.

We cannot connect cc3000 mod to msp-exp430g2 due to hardware or software incompatibilities?

I flashed the patches using patch programmer utilities.patcg Version on host driver I am using is 14

I also followed the jumper instructions to use hardware UART

Hi Poorvaja,

I would need some clarification. When you say CC3000 MOD, are you referring to the part number CC3000MOD? Or are you referring to the CC3000 Evealuation Module (CC3000EM)? If it is the part number, then you can connect CC3000MOD to the MSP430G2, you would need to have the boosterpack interface to place it on the MSP430G2 Launchpad headers.
