What released products use CC3000?

Hello,

Looking through the forums I see quite a few unresolved issues with the CC3000, and I'm nervous about releasing our product with it. Does anyone know of an end-user product out there in the real world, selling in any kind of volume, that uses the CC3000?

Thanks,

Derek

  • Spark core: https://www.spark.io/

It was originally a reasonably successful Kickstarter campaign.

I have seen some of their employee's post here as well so they have also run into some issues with the CC3000.

  • Hello,

I've seen lots of development tools like the Spark core use the CC3000 but we're looking for end-user products, e.g. products that are sold to consumers.

    Thanks,
    Derek

  • The CC3000 has a serious hanging issue and until it's resolved by TI you are not going to see any commercial products using it, outside the hobbyist Arduino shield community.

  • What causes the hanging issue Ivor?  I haven't got that far, and there's still time to pull the plug on the development with this board.

As far as pulling the plug goes I would wait until the next patch is released, which is coming in a couple of weeks as of today according to TI. From what I can gather and thanks to a lot of members who have provided me with information on this, the issue is in the CC3000 firmware and a top priority for TI. There are several post that discuss this, both here and on Spark's forum. Here are the links:
