I tried running the patch by changing the pins by programming it. These are the changes I made in theboard.h file

#define SPI_IRQ_PORT_DIR P1DIR (previously was P2DIR)
#define SPI_IRQ_PORT_SEL P1SEL (previously was P2SEL)
#define SPI_IRQ_PORT_SEL2 P1SEL2 (Similar changes made)
#define SPI_IRQ_PIN BIT0 (Previosly BIT6)

#define WLAN_EN_PORT_OUT P2OUT (previously P1OUT)
#define WLAN_EN_PORT_DIR P2DIR (previously P1DIR)
#define WLAN_EN_PORT_SEL P2SEL (previously P1SEL)
#define WLAN_EN_PORT_SEL2 P2SEL2 (previously P1SEL2)
#define WLAN_EN_PIN BIT6 (Previosuly BIT0)

The debugger still does not progress past the line:

}
This is part of the pio_init() function:

Hi Raven,

Do you have access to Oscilloscope or logical analyzer? It would be easy to check if the WLAN_EN line is toggling or not. And also check if the CC3000 is generating an interrupt. Please check it with both configurations.

You can also try hard wiring the CC3000 with MSP430G2 by making one to one connections and see if your configuration is indeed working or not. May be after this you can move to using EM adapter boosterpack.

Hi Raghav,

Is there any function which can be written to the MCU host(MSP430G2553) just to make sure that the cc3000 is responding to it?

Also to my understanding the WL_SPI_IRQ pin asks for an interrupt from the host processor and the VBAT_SW_EN pin is pin which sort of, receives input to enable the device to work. Is this correct, or do they serve some other purpose?

I am not sure I understand the question. Your host MCU can call wlan_start() which will also validate if the CC3000 is responding. This function sends two SPI commands to the CC3000, each of which expect a reply. You could manually send the SPI data if so inclined, it is documented on the Wiki http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Serial_Port_Interface_(SPI)#CC3000_Init_Operation.

If you are talking about the Basic WiFi Application you can send commands to it via UART. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Basic_Wi-Fi_example_application_for_MSP430

On your host, the IRQ pin should configured as a falling edge interrupt which the CC3000 triggers.

The SW_EN pin should be an output. The CC3000 reads this signal, and when high it activates the CC3000, taking it out of a low power mode.

Hi Raghav,

There is nowhere in the cc3000 patch programmer code where the SW_EN(WLAN_EN_PIN) is set as a high output. Should it be set high(1)?

Hi Raven,

It should be set to high. There is function that is defined in board.c, 'WriteWlanPin' which will set this high.

The Driver Patch worked. BothLED's of the MSP430G2553 come on after running the driver patch programmer. Will move on to the Firmware patch.thanks!
