Over the air firmware update

Hi,

I'm using cc3000 module with LPC1769 controller.Now i want to update the firmware of the module over the air.I have gone through the cc3000 flashing guide which is in the following link.

Now, what is meant by image and where it is available?

After receiving the message, what steps the controller should follow?

Hi,

The OTA update mentioned in the above link is not meant for the firmware patch update. It is for the Host Driver and the SPI driver. We do not have sample applications for the OTA updates. You would have to use the patch programmer utility for that.

Hi,

That means there is no provision to upgrade the firmware patches in EEPROM of CC3000 over the air.But the flowchart which is below is saying that the EEPROM can be updated.

Can you please tell me what is the meaning of it.

The above one is an overview of a concept. We do not have a sample application which does this, you would have to implement this. In addition you should implement the checksum mechanism for integrity check.

The concept is to retrieve the image that contains the FW/Driver patches over the air, and program the EEPROM. Programming EEPROM involves writing the respective Driver and Firmware patches to the nvmem files with id NVMEM_WLAN_DRIVER_SP_FILEID and NVMEM_WLAN_FW_SP_FILEID. The concept is pretty much similar to the patch programming utility except for the component that receives the data and validates it.
