wifi ceritification

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3200MOD, CC3100

Hi all. Once i design a product based on cc3200,   can you tell me whitch steps should be accomplished before getting the certification and attach wifi logo on the product ? Any idea about costs and if TI provide some kind of facilities for this task ?  I heard the process is simplified when using ti components but I still did'nt examine in detail this item.

In case I want to create more products based on this tecnology , is it needed to repeat the procedure for every new product ?

  • Stefano,

TI CC3xxx modules are WiFi Certified at a modular level which equates to significant time and cost saving for the customer.

The CC3200MOD and CC31000MOD are not released yet but we plan to publish Wiki guidelines which explains the modular certification process once these are available. In the meantime, you can refer to Wiki guidelines for one of your previously certified products for details:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Product_Certification#ETSI.2FCE_Certification

Please note that the CC3200 & CC3100 Device are not WiFi certified (only the modules are). Therefore, a customer needs to run certification tests and complete the process with an approved certification Lab.

  • About the new modules , can you give me some more informations about specifications ? I mean ,  Do you thing most of I/O signals will be available or do you plan to make simply a module usable to add wifi capability to an exisiting processor application ??

    thanks

  • Stefano,

We plan to release the module to market later this quarter and will have a datasheet available online with more details. However, to answer your question, we have both a CC3200 module (so with a MCU integrated) and CC3100 module. The CC3200 module will offer a similar set of peripherals as the CC3200 QFN device.

Also, I need to make a correction to my statement above. We also plan to certify the QFN device for WiFi Alliance. We will share more details on both the module and QFN device certification once these are complete.

  • Adnan,

Do you have any update on cc3200 wifi certification?

    my questions are:

    1. if I buy CC3200 now, does it come with wifi certification?

    2. Does CC3200 require wifi re-calibration when it is on a board?

    3. If it is re-calibrated, should it go to wifi certification process again?

    Thank you.
