WL1831MOD and external antennas via U.FL antennas

I want to use the WL1803MOD with external antennas. The external antenna is connected to the board with a U.FL connector. Can I connect the U.FL connector via a 50ohm circuit direct to module antenna output or must there be placed compensation compnents. If there have to be compensation components, where can I find information about the calculation ?

Please see the response from our HW team as below

Not required external antenna matching as long the antenna and uFl cable used are 50R otherwise it’s dependent on the load of the antenna.

thanks for the respons. The U.FL connector and the antenna have an impedance from 50ohm.

I have seen on the WL1835MODCOM8B demo board that there is placed a 10pF capacitor between the module antenna output and the U.FL connector, is that necessary ?

Hi Johan,

I hope you are referring either to C5/C7 or C6/C8 capacitors, If so by default the antenna configuration is mapped to U.FL (external) connector (C7 and C8 are connected).
