Access to IQ raw data on CC3200

Hello,

If not to worry about why I need it, can some body tell how I can access the IQ raw data coming after ADC in the Rx chain but before being decoded by processor for digital information. FYI, I am using the CC3200 launch pad from TI :)

I am not sure what IQ raw data is....but the lowest level you can access with APIs is the Transceiver Mode. Check it out in the NWP Programmers Guide - http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru368/swru368.pdf

Hi,

I am not sure why you need such low level access to those signals.The IQ signals would be available internally before the baseband block or processor block and i dont think TI will expose that. You will need to access those in test mode and route those signals out to 2 pins(if TI have such pins to mux)and i dont think TI allows that.

Hi Fadleen,

Thanks for your replies. I am studying the signal reflections and phase shifts in the reflected WIFI signals, so I want to see how the phase/amplitude shift happens, it is not intended for any specific application as part of academic research. Can you please look into details in the link provided above by Glenn where it seems some options in Trasceiver mode getting some raw data, but I am not sure if this is what I am looking? how to put in test mode and access these 2 IQ signals of the WiFi receiver?

Hi RK,

I guess if you want to see the in phase and out of phase quadrature signals you would need a demodulator. You would be better off using an RF module instead of a uC..

The tranceiver API is high level..more for data or packet transmissions..

Companies don't just reveal test modes to the public i'm afraid.

Hi Fadleen,

I agree with you to use a stand alone Demodulator, but the work I am doing is on real WiFi signals coming out from our daily using devices. On other note, the launch pad 3200 is not able to communicate well and getting following error when trying to run the RF test tool provided by TI for running Rx, Tx testing.

Just finished doing the firmware update using the TI wiki page but still same error as posted earlier, following is the main window where you get the above error:

Hi Roop,

If you are using CC3200, besides FW, you'll need to flash the Radio Tool application as well. You can use Uniflash for this task, and the application can be found at:

<your radio tool installation location\>CC32xxBoardApplication_Binary
