Why USB is not protected?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200

Hi All,

I have a question for CC3200 LaunchPad designer, why USB is not protect.

I just had a short circuit between 5v and GND as result the L2 burn out

I had same kind short circuit in Arduino Uno and never had this issue.

They are using MF-MSMF050-2 which is Resettable, should we replace this L2 with that?

Thanks,

Ali

Thanks for the recommendation for the resettable fuse. I think it is a good idea to have this.

Usually the resettable fuse takes couple of seconds to trip and this time may be large enough for other components to burn out.

Usually the USB Hub would cut off the power to the USB port in case of a current surge and issue a warning about the same. Looks like this did not happen in your case.
