How to use an empty SFlash image?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3100, UNIFLASH

According to TI's document "swru369a:CC3200 SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi ® and IoT Solution, a Single Chip Wireless MCU Programmer's Guide", page 59, it says, "CAUTION
Serial Flash also hosts images corresponding to TI proprietary components.
These images are not shared with the SDK. Please contact your TI
representative in case the serial flash on your launchpad gets erased."

Now, I am thinking about making our own customised board and we will solder a new SFlash, which is empty. Then can we just flash the Service Pack to make it ready to use? As the CAUTION says, it seems that we have to contact TI to flash some TI proprietary components, is it right?

I think if your Serial Flash is one of those listed as supported for CC3200, there should be no problem. Just format the Serial Flash then load the Service Pack, after that the Serial Flash should be ready for use.

  • I believe as long as you are using the CC3100/CC3200 version of UniFlash, to perform the process, then it should be fine.
