Carrier wave in CC3100 RadioTool not working

You seem to be using a very old version of the device and service pack. Suggest you move the latest version of the device and use the latest service pack from the wiki page. Also note that tone number 0 will give you a very low output power. For higher output power levels use a non 0 tone number (like 1 or so).

The comment in the code is a mistake, it would be corrected.

Now I have tried with new HW and the lastest service pack but I still cannot get carrier wave to work. If I try a packetized TX test I see spikes on my spectrum analazyer but if I try CW I get nothing. Has CW not been implemented in the CC3100 yet?

Thanks, it turns out there was a CW but a vary very faint one. I had to place the CC3100BOOST a few decimeters from my spectrum analyzer for it to pick up the carrier wave. The meter-and-a-half I had previously was too far.

Now that I have verified CW on the BOOST I want to get the same result on my target using the CC3100MOD. I have tried the code in RadioTool.c and found the following parts relevant in RadioStartTX(...):

    if (RADIO_TX_CW == eTxMode)
    {
        rawSocket = sl_Socket(SL_AF_RF,SL_SOCK_RAW,eChannel);
        sl_Send(rawSocket, NULL, 0, powerLevel_Tone); // Returns 0
    }

Running that code after sl_Start gives me no carrier though. I have tried different power levels. Any initialization I have missed? (I have called RadioToolOpen)

Hi Johan,

The same radio tool code should work on the CC3100MOD as well. Can you please double check the firmware and make sure you have the latest? Please share your screenshot as well.
