WL18xx Wifi and BT not working in custom board

Hi,
We've built a custom board with Am335x+WL18xx. The WL18xx is connected in UART2 as opposed to UART1 in the EVM board. We've made the necessary changes for this and when we launched the BT app, we get the below error:

Also WLCore driver is not getting loaded. SDIO is connected in MMC2.

    Hi,

    The error you are facing is “BTPS_ERROR_HCI_DRIVER_ERROR(-14)”. usually we see this only when we have some UART interface problem. Please make sure your uart configuration is fine.

    From the software point below are the steps you need to follow for bringing up Am335x+WL18xx:

    Please see http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php?title=WL18xx_AMxxx_platform_integration_guide 

    Get the am335x-evm-sdk-src-07.00.00.00.tar.gz and am335x-evm-sdk-bin-07.00.00.00.tar.gz fromhttp://software-dl.ti.com/sitara_linux/esd/AM335xSDK/latest/index_FDS.html, link to this is provided in the previous link.

    extract the src and applied the patches and built with the Cross compiler (arm-linux-gnueabihf-), you can get the cross compiler from the above link or even if you install the "install.bin", you will have it at location "ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00/linux-devkit/sysroots/i686-arago-linux/usr/"

    and once the kernel is built you can copy the .dtb and ZImage to the boot partition. after extracting the bin folder, You will see the file system directly which you can copy to ROOTFS (file-system) partition. UIM is already part of this file-system.

    Install the Bluetopia SDK on your PC, and just copy the executables from "BluetopiaPM/bin" of your PC to "/home/root/ss1" of the file-system.

    Hi

    Thanks for the immediate response. I've reviewed the changes for our hardware again with the dts file and could not find any obvious issues in pin mapping.

    Can you please let me know how to debug and find if it is a UART configuration issue? We are able to see tty02 being created successfully and when we tried sending/receiving through tty2 using microcosm utility we are able to see transactions using CRO.

    Would be of help if you can let me know if there are any debug mechanisms to find further inputs

    Hi,

    You are getting BTPS_ERROR_STACK_INITIALIZATION_ERROR that is strange.

    I hope it might be related to the system clock (saw a similar issue before).

    Could you please set the clock (date) to the current time and rebuild your code and see if it helps.

    hi Sundeep,
    One update in the exercise. We tried using  hcitool to check if the low level interface is working. It looks like hcitool is working fine whereas the problem happens only when we try using Bluetopia stack.

    Please let us know why the stack behaves differently during the same sequence as HCItool. I've highlighted in yellow for quick reference.

    We tried re-building the kernel also without any luck. We enabled the verbose and debug messages in uim.c and i'm attaching the log we got.

    Hi Sundeep,

    Thanks for the pointers. The BT stack is working now.

    We had our RTC connected through SPI interface and we never brought it up.  So we manually set the date and time using "date" command in Linux and then ran the stack and it started working.
    Strange that it has a dependency on RTC but it has kept us going.
