The organization of the SFlash on the CC3200 is a mystery to me.

Q1. What is the purpose of the files I see in UniFlash?

Q2. What is on a service pack update?

Q3. Is this documented somewhere?

The mcuimg.bin references to the .bin file of your program (example httpserver ). I don't know about the other one.

Hi,

The pem and pac files are for WiFi enterprise security.

You can read more on the Programmer's guide document on chapter 9.1.2.2.

The pem files, yes (and private.key). The pac.bin file is NOT described in 9.1.2.2 nor anywhere else in the Programmer's guide. I'm still left wondering how a beginner is supposed to know what files to program, which are important and which can be deleted, which files are modified by the service pack, etc. But mostly, I'm wondering where the documentation is that describes all of this.

Basically, it should be described on the Programmer's guide and if it does not appear there, it should be fixed.

Regarding your queries:

1) Service Pack modifies /sys/servicepack.ucf only. This is a set of SW patches on top of ROM code. If this file is missing, then the ROM code is executed as is with no patches. It is highly not recommended as the patches includes many bug fixes.

2) pac.bin is used for EAP-FAST enterprise. Actually, the user does not have to bother with this file as it is a temporary file that is used internally by the device during EAP-FAST. It should be removed from the list of files Uniflash exposes.
