CC3100 'SL_WLAN_DISCONNECT_EVENT' async event

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3100

Hey,

I'm currently using the CC3100 as a Station and connect to an AP.

Once in a while I receive at the HOST MCU async event of 'SL_WLAN_DISCONNECT_EVENT' meaning that the CC3100 has disconnected from the AP although it stays close to the AP.

Sniffing the channel of the AP with USB Wi-Fi Dongle we don't see any 'Disassociation' nor 'Reassociation request' between the AP and the CC3100.

We would like to understand, what Wi-Fi events causes the CC3100 to send a 'SL_WLAN_DISCONNECT_EVENT' to the HOST MCU?

Is it an amount of missed DTIM Beacons? Is it only Disassociation received from the AP? Something else?

Can we set the CC3100 to be more flexible for such events that may cause 'SL_WLAN_DISCONNECT_EVENT' at the HOST MCU?

We would appreciate your fast response, it's pretty urgent.

Thanks in advance,

Nir

  • Hi Nir,

The CC3100 is actually configured to be very robust and maintain connection as long as possible.
As a general note that CC3100 will disconnect from the AP due to receiving disassociation packet from the AP, receiving a disconnect command from the host processor, or poor RF conditions (missing too many beacons, AP not responding etc..).
Can you please share your AP module information and a sniffer capture showing the problem, so we can investigate it further?

    Thanks,
    Alon
