Hi,

I would like to connect usb camera (or webcam) to CC3200.

Do you have any advice what drivers are available in CC3200 for USB camera connectivity?

If there is no driver already in CC3200 then please let me know whats the best way to connect USB camera into CC3200.

Hi yum,

CC3200 doesn't supports USB interface. However you can attach a 8-bit parallel camera .

Checkout the 'camera_application' example from the SDK

Thanks, but its provides like 6 or 7 FPS.

Does it require to have booster-board?

If not then where to stick 8-bit parallel camera on the cc3200?

Also is there any driver needed for this camera or how will I be able to play video off of it?

Hi,

You will find the basic driver in the example\camera_application\mt9d111.c (For MT9D111 camera sensor).

The booster packs are not currently available. But you can refer to booster-pack schematics provided here http://www.ti.com/tool/tidc-cc3200camboost

One last question, can I use this camera with booster pack and get better speed and close to real time/live stream of images or video??

As an alternative solution, you could look into the CC3100 BoosterPack and the Tiva C LaunchPad. The Tiva C supports USB, though I do not think there are drivers for the USB video device class, but perhaps someone has developed these. To find out more regarding this, you would need to ask the question on the Tiva C forum - http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/tiva_arm/default.aspx

You mentioned real time streaming. What frame rate are you looking at and at what resolution?

The frame rate is expected to be somewhere between 20 - 25 FPS.

Yum,

We’ve not worked w/ OV5642 but its flexi part is pin compatible w/ OV3660 and can be mounted on the camera booster-pack’s J1.

And when you say 20-25 FPS, did you mean 20-25 frames of JPEG compressed VGA frames per second, .i.e. roughly 2.09 MB of data every second? No - CC3x00 cannot push data over Wi-Fi at this rate.
