All,

I have mu udp socket code loaded into flash memory.

Is there any possible way wherein i can debug the program loaded onto flash using CCS.

I followed the debug procedure mentioned in

"CC3200 SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi ® and IoT Solution, a Single Chip Wireless MCU Programmer's Guide"

page no :52- 55. But it looks like these steps loads the program into RAM and does the debugging.

I am not aware of any way to debug the code on flash. The code is actually a binary, that is likely compiled without symbols (to reduce size), so it would not be possible to debug it anyway.

By the way....what happens during boot up, is that the entire application is copied into RAM from the flash. So you will not be debugging from serial flash anyway.

Glenn,

Referring to udp socket example i found the .bin file size to be around 30 KB and the .out file to be very high around 400+ KB.
Now when i load the .out in CCS to CC32000 where is the .out loaded on the device. i mean will this ,out go directly on to the ram ( only 256 KB , so not possible ) or the flash?

Who maintains the program symbols and facilitates the debugging process?

Basically i would like to understand how the .out gets loaded on to the device and what part of it actually goes into the RAM and where rest debug information goes in.

How the debugging process works.

I am thinking these questions may be best ask from a compiler expert (which I am not), or perform some searches on the Internet for compiler, debug, symbols etc.
