Http server in STA mode with domain name

Hi,

I see that in httpserver example, in access point mode, I can access the internal website using mysimplelink.net, but in station mode, I need to figure out ip address of the device and use that ip address to access internal web server.

How do I register a domain name, such that in sta mode as well I can access the internal website by using mysimplelink.net

This is not easily possible on a Windows machine.

If this is just to help you find your device, you could install a bonjour browser which will see mDNS advertisements.

If you need this for a product you are developing, you will need to find another way to advertise the site using a Windows supported mechanism.

This has been discussed in these forums a few times, search on key words mDNS, Bonjour and Zero Config

Is there any other way this can be implemented?

Because in field, we cannot ask each customer to install bonjour. Moreover, our device will be connected to devices on different platform. I was reading somewhere, there is a little bit of programming required to do this. Can you guide me to right direction?

Have you had a chance to search on the key words I detailed above? As this has been discussed a few time.

For Windows you would need to implement LLMNR - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link-Local_Multicast_Name_Resolution

Basically you will need to implement code your self, some of it you may be able to obtain and then port from open source libraries.
