Alternate ways of programming the CC3200 device (other than UniFlash).

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, UNIFLASH, CC3100

Hello,

I am working with CC3200 LaunchXL device.

What are the alternate ways of programming the CC3200 device, other than using UniFlash ??

Also, what are alternate ways of flashing files in the Serial Flash ??

Regards,

Abhishek.

  • I am not aware of any supported or approved methods other than UniFlash. (I am also unaware of any unsupported methods either)

Basically UniFlash will need to be used, as it understand the File System which is proprietary.

There was talk of a Gang Programmer or at least software support for a gang programmer, but not sure on time frame for this.

You can use UniFlash with the USB ICDI (FTDI based) connection (in other words the basic USB connection) or you could also program by using the CC3100 Advance Emulation Board or another CC3200 LaunchPad and then connect to the appropriate lines. This has been discussed a few times in this forum, search on key words - FTDI, UART, Programming, Serial Flash, FTDI TTL Cable

  • Hello Glenn,

Thank you very much for replying.

Actually the thing is that i have prepared a CC3200 based circuit board for my application, but haven't given the same USB hardware present on the CC3200 LaunchXL launchpad.

Hence i am looking for other ways to program it.

I understood that UniFlash is indeed necessary to program the CC3200.

What i am looking for, is in terms of hardware circuitry.

I will search for the keywords given by you, and get back once i go through them.

    Thanks once again for replying.

    Regards,

    Abhishek.

  • Hi Abhishek,

Currently the only method of doing the initial programming of the CC3200 is by using Uniflash. You can also use a CC3200 Launchpad to program your board. Just use the center pins of J6 and J7 to make the UART connection (assumes 3.3V logic)

  • Hello Aaron,

    Thank you for replying.

Can you please elaborate the method so that i can implement correctly.
