CC3200 SmartConfig to Change APs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200

Team,

Can the SmartConfig app be used to change the AP the CC3200 connects to?

That is, if I'm in a room with two Access Points "A" and "B", can I use the SmartConfig app to connect to "A", then, using the SmartConfig app, reconfigure the CC3200 to connect to "B" instead?

Thanks!

  • You can do this, but there is an extra step. You will need to disconnect from the currently connected AP, you can do this by removing the profile via the HTML config pages on the CC3200 and then restarting the device (You can access the HTML config pages from the Devices page of the SimpleLink App). Then you can run through the SmartConfig process again to connect to the other access point.

You can also set priority order for the AP, so for example you could have the profile for both APs, and the CC3200 will connect to the one with the highest priority first if it is available, if it is not available, it will connect to the next highest priority AP. If the APs are both on and in the same area, you will need to either turn one AP off to connect the other using SmartConfig, or you will need to add the profile for the second AP manually by using the HTML config pages.
