IP acquired timing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3100

Hi,

I meet one problem about the timing of IP acquired.

I do smartconfig first and make sure the profile is written in cc3100.

I reboot device to verify how long to get IP.

Sometimes it gets IP very soon, but sometimes it needs to take long time to get IP, even failed to get IP.

Does anyone meet the simlar issue or have idea about this issue?

thanks
Gavin

  • I have never experienced this behaviour and have tested extensively (actually, I have only experienced this behavior when I moved the device far from the WiFi Router). Once the CC3100 has been provisioned, it will connect to the network very quickly once it is rebooted.

Some suggestions to assist in determining the issue:-

    1) What happens when you have the CC3100 sitting close/next to the WiFi Router? (This will show if it is a WiFi reception issue)
    2) What happens if you try a different WiFi Router? (This will show if it is related to the WiFi Router)
    3) What happens if you test in a completely different location? (This will show if you have a lot of interference)
    4) What happens if you change the channel on your WiFi Router? (This is similar to 3 above. Possibly some interference)

    Glenn.
  • Gavin,

Is DHCP enabled? If yes, the primary variable here is the time that the server takes to assign an IP address to the device, and it's outside CC3x00's control.

Can you please repeat the test by configuring the device for static-IP and share your observations?

    Thanks,
    Praneet
