Clear the contents of External flash in CC3200.

Hi,

There are two main options if you would like to remove the mcuimg:

1. format the device, flash the service pack and then you can start clean (and load whatever file you want, includng mcuimg)
2. erase only mcuimg via Uniflash. You should check the erase checkbox under mcuimg

by mcuimg did u mean only the program loaded onto the external flash?

I have uniflash installed on my computer. Can u give me the detailed steps to follow to erase only the program in the external flash.
I do not want to load any new program onto flash but want to remove the existing program from the flash.
Please help me in this regard.

Steps to erase the mcuimg.bin file from the serial flash:-

1) Start UniFlash
2) Select "New Target Configuration" and press OK
3) Change the COM Port to the COM Port number your CC3200 is using (You can find this out by viewing Device Manager from the Window Control Panel)
4) Press on the /sys/mcuimg.bin item (left hand tree pane)
5) Select Erase (right hand panel)
6) Select CC31x Flash Setup and Control (left hand tree pane)
7) Select Program (right hand panel)
8) Follow the instruction in the Console

As i mentioned in my previous mail, i do not want program the flash and i just want to erase its contents.

So the "format: option in step 7 is meaningful than "program" option. 

Am i correct in this regard?

Any specific jumper settings to be done during this process?

I tried the format option in step 7.
Also i put sop2 jumper on during this process.

The serial flash got formatted and it never runs the old flashed program on reboot/restart.

Let me know if there was any problem in the format option i selected in step 7.

Yes, you will need to place SOP2 Jumper on when you are working with UniFlash.

By using Format instead of Program, you would have erased everything, including the latest Service Pack. You can install the latest Service Pack using the Service Pack Update option. You can get the latest service pack from here - www.ti.com/.../cc3200sdk

After doing the format as i explained above, I am able to run the wifi audio examples using Audio booster pack. There are no concerns.

What exactly is this service pack. What is this used for.

Otherwise, download and look at the content of the Service Pack for details, you will see a readme.txt that links off to release notes and other information
