802.11j support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1807MOD

Hello,

Do you have plan to support 802.11j with your module product?

WL1837M supports 5G band, so it might be possible to support but there is no description about 11j.

We are looking for 11j module which host interface is SDIO, SPI or UART because our host processor does not have PCI-e.

Best regards,

Masa

  • Hi,

We do support the 11j channels (as long as CRDA/Reg Domain of the system supports it), but not the complete specification. But it is beyond the scope of our testing, and should any issue come up, we won’t be able to support them.

    Regards,
    Gigi Joseph.
  • Gigi-san

Thank you for your quick feedback.

I would like to confirm what the meaning of “not the complete specification”. Does it mean that you’ve not tested the validation so we cannot guarantee that we can support full specification?
If you have the list of un-supported feature, I would like to know them.

Also regarding for regulatory, I do not think that you module is tested with 11j mode. So, in case we use your module (WL1807MOD) is used, regulatory testing have to conducted by ourselves. Right?

    Best regards,
    Masa

  • Hi,

802.11j is supported by the WL1837M HW, and it was verified from the RF level.

Our software implementation was not completed to support this requirement, and thus was not tested as part of any release

this is part of our future road-map.
