Hi,

a customer wants to use the WL1835MOD as BT only and I just wanted to confirm the use of enable signals. My understanding is that for this BOTH WLAN_EN and BT_EN need to be used. WLAN_EN is needed to turn on the internal power.

On another note the WL1835MOD datasheet uses two labels for WLAN_EN, that is WLAN_EN and WL_EN. It should be the same signal. Can we correct the datasheet?

Hi,

You don't require WLAN_EN, For bringing up BT.
See the BT power up sequence here processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC256x_Testing_Guide
It is the same for WL18xx.

Just out of curiosity, If they want to only use BT, why don't they just use CC256x?

Hi Sundeep,

I am assuming that BT_EN is the same signal then as nSHUTDOWN in the CC256x, so in WL8 we just need BT_EN for BT only operation. WLAN_EN can stay inactive. Please let me know if this is right.

I need to get more information from the customer on why BT only mode and will certainly position the CC256x.
