Cannot see CC3200-LAUNCHPAD in list of Wi-Fi Connections in Windows 7

Hi,

I am having trouble with my SimpleLink CC3200-LAUNCHXL board. I have placed the shorting link on Vcc and P58 and pressed the reset button but still the board isn't listed in the list of Wi-Fi connections detected on my Windows 7 laptop. Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong?

I can only assume that the board is damaged from static electricity but I have always handled it carefully albeit without a static discharge strap. The board has D1(ORANGE), D4(RED), D5(GREEN) and D6(ORANGE) all ON. D7(RED) remains OFF even when I press the reset switch.

According to TI's Quick Start Guide D7 should blink slowly 3 times AFTER THE RESET BUTTON is pressed but it always remains OFF. The board is FLASHED with the latest available service pack downloaded from TI's website - servicepack_1.0.0.1.2.bin and I am using UniFlash version 3.2.0.00120.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you flash an application besides the service pack?

No, just the service pack, 1.0.0.1.2. I have just re-installed all the software on my laptop, SDK, Service Pack Installer, Uniflash and I still have the same problem. It is really weird, I just can't see the CC3200 Wi-Fi connection on my laptop.

We've got similar issues with the latest SPs.

We went back to http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC32xx_Release_Notes_0.5.2 and it works ok. I'd also reflash the provisioning_ap from the sdk examples.

I'm aware that an non productive SP is not a permanent solution...

Hi Stephen,

The CC3200 requires the Out of Box example application, and associated web content to be flashed to the serial flash for that demo to work. The Vcc and P58 connection only works for that demo. You can try the getting_started_with_wlan_AP example for a better understanding on how to put the device into AP mode.

Hi Stephen,

Have you tried the out of box demo before using your smart phone?

Try these steps below:

1. Using Uniflash format your CC3200 with settings 1 MB Size, Secure and Alert option left unchecked. Place jumper at SOP2.
2. Using Uniflash program latest service pack version. Place jumper at SOP2.
3. Using Uniflash, load out of box demo .ucf file or configuration. Afterwards program out of box demo.
4. Remove jumper at SOP2. Place jumper at P58-Vcc.
5. See, if you are able to see your CC3200 wifi using your smart phone or laptop.
