Hi TI

In what CC3200 device version is the full 256k SRAM available (as oposed to 192k SRAM for pre-production units).

Is there a way to pull the CC3200 ES ver from the unit in code? I thought maybe it was in SLFullVersion.SLpartialVersion.ChipId but it did not line up with the version of 1.33 reported by Uniflash.

Hi Steven,

You could use the ChipId field to detect if it is preproduction device. Can you tell me what is the value that you read i should be able to cross and tell you if this is correct. Did you read a value of 0x13 or 0x10.

ChipId is a long so I read 0x4000010. Should I mask the LS byte? Is there a format for ChipId I can review in some documentation?

Hi Steve,

Yes just look at the lower 5 bits and that should tell you if it is production device or not.
0x10 - Production device
0x13 - Pre-production device.

So I am reading a ChipId of 0x10 which according to your last reply indicates I am using a production device.
However the label on the module itself says the part number is XCC3200MODR1M2AMOB, what does the X prefix stand for in this part?

I assumed it was to indicate that the part was a pre-production part (similar to the chip part #). Does it represent something else?

Hi Steve,

You can rely on the ChipId of 0x10 to interpret it as a R1 device with full 256 KB SRAM.
Based on the CHIP_ID the accurate description would be as below
0x10 - 256 KB SRAM available for application
0x13 - 192 KB SRAM available for application.

A R1 production device for sure would have the CHIP_ID 0x10 but the other way round may not be always true.
X prefix in the part number would mean that it is pre-production. A pre-production part also could have the CHIP_ID 0x10.
