CC3100 connect to open AP?

Hello

I am trying to use the CC3100 module to connect to an open AP. I can connect to an AP using a stored profile, or using the "Connect" API, but it won't connect automatically to any open AP in he vicinity.

I have set the Connect to any Open AP in the connection policies

I have even enabled the scans

Am I missing something?

Sorry for the late reply. Have you tried the CC31xx Getting Started with WLAN Station example? This should provide you a good starting point.

Thank you for the advice. At this time we are not looking for a good starting point. We can connect to an access point and send/receive TCP packets with very good reliability. What does not seem to work is the "Connect to Open Access Point" policy.

Is there an example that covers that? The one you suggested seems to require a connection profile to be defined.

I can, but it is quite complex and involves interactions with a host via USB. I would rather not send you in that direction.

What I do is:
- Set a policy that only has the "Connect to Open AP" flag set
- Setup a router with no security
- Wait for the CC3100 to connect (which never happens)
- In addition I tried to setup a scan every 1 minute Does not seem to change anything

Is there anything that I am missing?

I've confirmed with our R&D and the answer is that we don't support this feature, unfortunately.

Hi Bruno,

There's currently no plan for such feature.
To work around this limitation, you can manually perform a scan and connect to the open AP of your choice.
