CC3200 Wifi Security Password Reset

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, UNIFLASH

Does anyone know the procedure for resetting the security key on the cc3200? The security key I used to initially secure the connection does not work. I may have copied it down wrong, or, it's possible that I was able to create a key that was too long (7 characters apposed to the 5 required by WEP), and now the cc3200 won't accept it as a valid password since it is not 5 characters long. Can anyone help?

  • It depends on the application that is on the device. Usually you would set it to Access Point mode and then access the internal web server's HTML pages and delete the WiFi profile.

You can always just format the serial flash, reinstall the service pack with UniFlasg....I am pretty sure that should do the trick.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the connection would have needed to be correct initially for the profile to be created.

  • Hi Glenn,
    Thanks for the answer.

    Hi Mike,
Just to confirm, are you working with saved profiles here? If yes, then you can also read the saved profiles and based on the SSID you can delete that profile with its index.

  • Hi Glen, thanks for answering.

For some reason I am not able to access the internal web server's HTML pages, nor can I connect to the device to format it using UniFlash. When I try to connect to the HTML pages, my connection attempt times out and provides me with "Limited Connectivity," which essentially means no connectivity. When I try to format the device, I get

"[20:24:31] INFO: --- please restart the device ---
[20:24:46] ERROR: ---reading ACK signal failed---"

When I tried to connect to the device's HTML pages, it used to ask me for a password, which it would not accept due to it not being five characters long (I initially set a seven character password). The next day I tried again and it no longer even asked me for a password... Weird.

I have tried connecting using several different computers, and my smart phone, which had initially been successful until I set the password.

I don't know what to try next.

  • Hi Mike,

Can you please confirm that SOP2 jumper is mounted?

  • Yes, the SOP2 jumper is mounted. Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Mike,

You can start over by formatting the serial flash but it seems Uniflash does not work on your platform. So let's try fix that first.

Can you elaborate the followings (some of these will look trivial but it did happened for others in the past):

    1. are you using TI LaunchPad or use your own custom board?
    2. If it is LaunchPad, what version?
    3. have you ever tried Uniflash before? if yes, did it work?
    4. can you verify no other application (e.g. terminal emulation) is connected to the same COM portSOP2 jumper is not connected
    5. Can you verify SOP2 is connected
    6. make sure you press the reset button when asked during Uniflash session
    7. J6 and J7 are connecetd as FLASH
    8. make sure you can work in debug mode (with CCS/IAR). This would asure that your board is not broken

  • It seems that it was a hardware problem. I replaced the SOP2 jumper with a new one, and I was able to format the device. That seems to have taken care of the the problem.

    Thanks for your help,

    Mike

  • Great,

    Thanks for the update.
