WL1837MOD certifications

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1837

I've found WL1837 FCC, ETSI, etc. certifications listed here:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/WL18xxMOD_Certificates

but this page does not provide any indication of Wi-Fi Alliance certifications.

In another post I found reference to Wi-Fi Alliance pre-certification testing (link below) but the document does not indicate what devices the test results apply to:

http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/307/4572.WL8-R8.3-SP1-WLAN-Pre_2D00_Certifications-Test-Report-K3.8.xlsx

Is Wi-Fi Alliance testing planned for this device series?

Is a formal pre-certification report available that indicates which device(s) the test applies to?

  • Steve,
Unlike FCC/ETSI/TELEC certification that it's mainly an HW certification, the WiFi Alliance certification is combination of HW and SW,
When building a new product, and using TI Module with the same Antennas as TI provided in the tests results, the new produce can use TI certification for FCC/ETSI,
But with the same conditions (same HW Module, same Antennas same SW Release) the new product should run a full WIFI Alliance Certification (the Certification is per product)
As TI does not provide a "Product", TI run only Pre Certification process for each SW release,
Each SW release can be run with a different Host/OS/HW, but it is described in the RN of the release
TI Latest SW release page located in here (All SW Releases for WiLink 8 not just WIFI)
    www.ti.com/.../wilink-sw
While latest Open Source release (including RN and more) located in
    software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html
