G1 to G36 pin of WL1835 not connected to GND

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1835

Hi, there

In my custom WL1835+AM335X design, the 36 pins(G1~G36) can not connected to GND for layout issue. I know that these pins should be connected to GND plane. But I think maybe WL1835 can work with these pins left open because these pins  may internally connect to other GND pins in the chip.

Thanks

Yang

  • Hi Yang,

I will check and get back to you on this.

  • Hi Yang,

G1-G36 pins are designed to disperse the heat from the device as well as provide a solid reference ground for the Power management/supply and RF portion.

In MIMO operation mode WL1835  can consume up to 2.5W.

Its strongly suggested to connect those pins to the a solid ground to provide healthy current  propagation and heat dissipation.

We cant commit to the device performance in such connection and strongly recommend to change the design and follow our guidelines.

    Regards,

    Eric.
