Fresh out of box from Digi-Key, cannot see access point following quick start directions

Fresh from Digi-Key: CC31XXEMUBOOST Rev 3.0 J1 off J2 off J3 pin 2-3 on, J4 on J22 on, power into J6, CC3100BOOST Rev 4.0 piggybacked, triangle markings matched, u.FL antenna connected oto J2, J5 on J6 on J8 2-3, power up, press and hold SW1, press SW2, release SW2, release SW1.

Searched for video, followed those instructions. Tried different timings. Tried phones, PCs. Two different CC3100BOOST modules because I ordered two. Access SSID never found.

Is there some way to troubleshoot this? Could the firmware be not installed?

Any thoughts?

What are you connected the CC3100 BoosterPack to? Which LaunchPad are you using? The CC3100 will not work by its self, it needs to have a host MCU of some sort to function. I suggest looking at the CC3200 LaunchPad, which has a host MCU and Wi-Fi all in one.

OK. I was under the impression that the CC31XXEMUBOOST was adequate. Perhaps the PC needs to host the software or I need a C3200?
