CC3200MOD: Serial Flash pre-formatted with SimpleLink from factory?

Hello,

I'm using the CC3200MOD and had a few questions on SimpleLink:

Can I assume that the Serial ROM of the module will have SimpleLink already formatted?
- Also, what is the general process I should use to format my CC3200's after they come from TI?
- Do I always reformat the Serial ROM?
- I'm guessing there are services out there that do that, but I'm a little unclear as to where to look

For some reason it didn't show up on the original post, but does the internal ROM of the device have SPI lines to connect to an external programmer? Or how would I program the ROM?

Hi Michael,

The CC3200MODLAUNCHXL you get in the box comes with pre-programmed out-of-box example.

For flashing the Simplelink devices, please refer to the Uniflash Quick Start Guide.

If this is your first time getting to know the CC3100 and CC3200 devices, I'd recommend going over the out-of-box example and, as a sequence of the guide, the project 0 guide.

Also, instead of Serial ROM, I think you mean Serial Flash. Serial Flash is the location where you can store service packs, user applications and files. Where as ROM is a top-die space for some default configuration.
