I never post questions to forums. But I can't find a straight answer, or even reasonably assuring circumstantial evidence to suggest if I can use these parts in a design with an MPU that is not i.MX or Sitara. How successful are designs with other MPUs? In my specific case, I will use an Atmel SAMA5D4, running Linux.
I have seen a few sparse posts that seem to indicate some eventual success on Atmel SAM parts for WiFi, built I think, only from openly available code.
So I ask all of you:
1) Can other MPUs running Linux, be made to use the WL183x WiFi with existing, open source?
2) Can other MPUs running Linux, be made to use the WL183x Bluetooth with existing, open source?
I would qualify those further by adding that I am asking about all support functionality required; so requisite stacks, etc. If there are however any cases, even with closed sources that have had success, I would be interested to know as well. I also realize there are varying levels of success, where some features may not work; to the extent you can shed light on those, it would also be appreciated. Finally, I would add that a reasonable level of configuration / patching / debug is okay; but full re-writes are not an option.
Thanks!
Matt
