auto-calibrated in CC3200 CC3200 SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® and Internet-of-Things Solution design

Hi,

I have a question regarding “auto-calibrated” on page 62. What is exactly this means and how it is done?

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Autocalibration is used to correct and control the radio performance over temperature and process corners.
  • Hi Thanga,

Thanks for your reply. I need more information, please help to clarify:

    • What exactly means “process corners”?

    • How does it “correct and control” the radio performance?

    • Is it still necessary to have a matching circuit for my antenna?

    Regards,

    DJ

  • Hello Dheeraj,
The calibrations are done in order to get the best performance from the device. Its important that the device does the calibrations with the "right" load impedance which included the matching network and antenna. By right impedance I mean the actual load the device would see on the final product. You should always match the impedance as close as possible to 50ohms, if the antenna + trace does not by itself provide this then you might have to use the matching network.
