Hi all,
I am currently in a pre-study phase of a new version of a very successful project using wireless communication. I am considering switching from the current solution to WiFi (CC3200). I am however having some difficulty answering a few questions where I can not find any information in app notes or datasheets. I will transfer a few KiByte of data every 10 minutes or so. Desired battery life time is ~7 days with a ~500mAh battery.
1/ How much energy is required for a small data transfer (e.g. 1 KiByte)? I know that the Tx uses ~200mA when transmitting, but not the duration. Both the duration for actually transferring the data, but also any duration required to connect/disconnect to the network and wait for the proper transmission slot.
2/ How much is the Tx/Rx current affected by the strength of the network signal?
3/ Does anyone have experience in using the CC3200 with a Li Ion battery? I will ask the battery manufacturers if a 500mAh battery can handle a peak current of 200mA, but my guess is that the discharge current is too high. Has anyone tried this out? Practical experience is always useful.
