BeagleBone Black board + WL1837MOD module

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to connect the WL1837MOD module to the BeagleBone Black board and, at the same time, boot from the eMMC and use the uSD card as storage device.

Hi,

Unfortunately it is not possible. It is a hardware limitation of the BBB design.
The mmc that is routed to the BBB cape is the same mmc that is connected to the on board emmc.
So your only option is to use the uSD for booting when working with the WL1837MOD cape.
The emmc is kept in reset when using the cape.

Is it is possibile to use the uSD for booting and storing data at the same time?
Do you know other boards that can be used with the WL1837MOD without the hardware limitation problem as the BBB?

Hi Alessandro,

Yes, the uSD can be used for everything, so I don't think it is a real limitation other than the fact that the EMMC is just not used.

It is used for booting and root file system with full R/W. The same as the emmc qouls have been used.

Have you considered Beaglebone Green Wireless with builtin WL1835?

Jonatan thanks for the suggestion.
The Beaglebone Green Wireless has not the eMMC problem, but the Wi-Fi frequency is fixed at 2.4GHz. Is it correct?

Yes, WL1835 is 2.4 GHz only, while WL1837 supports 5 GHz. processors.wiki.ti.com/.../WL18xx_Overview
