Hi WiLink Team,

Good afternoon, a customer of mine is working with the IFETEL (Wireless Regulation Body in Mexico) and they are asking for requirements beyond the FCC/CE as indicated in the wiki:

From the customer:

According to the regulatory body, the [FCC/CE] certifications will not suffice. They have to do in-country testing.

Is there software available for the Wilink8 EVM that supports the following:

modulation on/off

channel setting

power modification

Is there another OEM using the WL1837MOD that is selling products in Mexico? Then I can potentially use this info to avoid doing testing on a module that has already passed for the Mexican market.

Please let me know what is available or if there is another channel for this certification.

Hi John,

To do what you are doing I would recommend you use the RTTT tool. This will allow you to set the channel and channel power. For modulation on/off, I am assuming this means an option to set CW operation, which the RTTT tool allows you to do. you can get the tool from:

www.ti.com/.../WILINK-BT_WIFI-WIRELESS_TOOLS

Within here you will have the RTTT tool option.

Any lessons learned or feedback for certification of the module in Mexico?

Unfortunately I do not know of any customers that have gone thru Mexico certification.

I do want to confirm, do we have any certificates for this module issued by either IFETEL or COFETEL?

The Mexico regulatory body responsible for wireless communication is called IFETEL (http://www.ift.org.mx/). It replaced COFETEL in 2013.

Hi John,

We do not have any certification for IFETEL or COFETEL. Our modules are only certified for US, Canada, Europe and Japan.
