Hi,

I'm looking for a long distance and Higher data rate thought put Wi-Fi module. I'm trying to send neat 1MB data from the close concrete elevator hoistway .

Can any one suggest me which TI Wi-Fi modules I can prefer(Part number) for this data transmission.

please suggest whether I need to use Simple link device or WiLink devices. Suggest the part number which suites for my requirements.

Hi,

Definitely you should look to WiLink devices. SimpleLink devices CC3100/CC3200 are not high speed devices. They are mainly designed to low power consumption. With selection of WiLink module will help you at e2e.ti.com/.../

Hi ,

Thank you for your reply,
I walked through those modules. WL18x7 taking 510mA and WL180x taking 420mA current.
In our project we looking for device with in 280mA current consumption rating, and we trying to communicate with module with in a 10 meter distance. But device will me in closed concrete elevator hoist way. can we connect the device out side the elevator?
is it able to communicate the device with this current rating (280mA) in above case?

Please let us know which module we can use for these cases.

Hi Basavanagouda,

With CC3100 (or module CC3100MOD) you will be able achieve consumption about 250mA at 3.3V during TX. CC3100 have good sensitivity and TX power, but definitely it is not high speed device.

But nobody than you is not able say that this will be suitable for your application. You need to try it by yourself. My best suggestion is buy www.ti.com/.../cc3100boost or www.ti.com/.../cc3200-launchxl and try it at your elevator hoist way.

Hi Basavanagouda,

In the best case according datasheet is:
- UDP: 16 Mbps
- TCP: 13 Mbps

but in real live it is about 8-10Mbps for TCP and about 12Mbps for UDP.
