Power reduction techniques in wl1837 MultiRole mode

I am running a WL1837 module in multirole mode and would like to know what configuration techniques I could use to reduce the overall power draw of the module.

I have tried changing various settings (idle duty cycle, tx power level) in my wl18xx-conf.bin using wlconf with no success.

I have also noticed that the power draw of the module jumps considerably the moment I turn on the access point.

    You are not expected to do manual tweaking of power consumption. It is optimized by default and the firmware controls power down modes (e.g. ELP) automatically in case it is enabled (enabled by default).

    When starting an AP role it is expected that power consumption will increase as an access point can't normally be in power save (compared to stations) as it has to be up and maintain the links.

    There is one feature you can use and this is:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AP_ELP

    However it has limitations and can't be used in Multi role scenarios, so not really useful for you.
