TI - RTOS based OTA update example

Dear All,

I am supposed to implement OTA in my application which is based on TI RTOS on CC3200, I went through the OTA application notes

I start looking at the code only to realize that it uses FREE RTOS :(

Why are there very few examples based on TI-RTOS , Can please someone take this up have examples for ALL in TI-RTOS ??

Its a huge task to convert something like OTA from free RTOS to TI-RTOS

Hello Shashank,

Why do you say OTA example is freertos. It is tirtos.

Regarding the resource explorer, this is tirtos sdk and it includes just a few example.

the full list example is located in the SDK (where OTA example is).

Regardless, you can move from freertos to tirtos. You can look at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC32xx_TI-RTOS#Steps_to.C2.A0build_a_new_application_on_CCS.C2.A0with_TI-RTOS: for freertos examples.

I thought so because I saw function calls in the OTA example like this

osi_SyncObjWait(&g_FactResetSyncObj, OSI_WAIT_FOREVER);


osi_TaskCreate(OTAUpdateTask,
                  (const signed char *)"OTA Update",
                  OSI_STACK_SIZE,
                  NULL,
                  1,
                  NULL );

and they are defined in osi_freertos.c
Which clearly at the top tells me these are Interface APIs for free-rtos function calls

Looks like thats a semaphore and task create api in FREE-RTOS

I want TI-RTOS examples

I am unable to find OTA example here

The path you are reffering to is

C:\ti\CC3200SDK_1.2.0\cc3200-sdk\example\ota_update\os

This example is FreeRTOS

This osi_xxx APIs are also in osi_tirtos. The OSI layer is an abstraction layer to the OS.

You can look at the properties of the project and you would see in the predefined symbols the USE_TIRTOS.

If it was freertos, you would see USE_FREERTOS as in out_of_box example.

do you mean to say if i USE functions in my applications like

I am using TI - RTOS or FREE RTOS ??

Yes, as you can see the same API and all other APIs under osi.h are common to both freertos and tirtos.

The choosing between the two is done according to the compilation flag and also need to use the right library under linker option.

Take a look at out_of_box as freertos and ota_update as tirtos as references.

Hi Shlomi,

I understood correctly now,

When i started working with CC3200, I created an empty project like below and started adding necessary including necessary files for TI-RTOS

So I missed this part of defining of TI-RTOS or FREERTOS

But if we are going to use the GUI to create tasks, sempahores and events

The config script thats generated works only for TI-RTOS right ?
