Hi,

Our product is integrated with WL1831MOD Wi-Fi module . We are in certification process now with an external lab. Board is failing in spurious emission.

Report says, at 2nd harmonic i.e 4824MHz, all the channels with data rate of 1Mbps, exceeding the average FCC power limit by 6dB.

Can anyone please suggest what may be the issue ? We closely followed the TI reference design.

Hi Raj,

Are you using the TI WL1831MOD or a WL1831 based module from one of our module partners?

For the TI module, have you referred to the test report : processors.wiki.ti.com/.../WL18xxMOD_Certification_Reports The WL18xx modules are already FCC certified.

Thanks for the reply.

We are using certified WL1831MOD. Since we deviate some rules, we are undergoing product level re-certification.

We don't have any idea that why it is failing in second harmonic. Can you please suggest, where to start looking into and how to get out of this issue.

Hi Raj,
Can you detail us what changes were done on the board, we can see why it is failing on radiated emissions.
A screen shot of the RF section will really help to understand the issue.
