CCS/CC3200: How to Get CPU Id

thanks for the idea. MAC address should be fine but I have a problem when I try to retrieve the MAC address.

I built this function:

APP_ERROR_ReturnCode_e NETWORK_HW_INTERFACE_GetMacAddress( uint8_t* macAddress, uint8_t* macAddressLen )
{
  APP_ERROR_ReturnCode_e opResult = APP_SUCCESS;

  if( sl_NetCfgGet(SL_MAC_ADDRESS_GET, NULL, macAddressLen, macAddress) < 0 )
  {
    opResult = APP_FAILURE;
  }

  return opResult;
}

But the CC3200 stuck when it tries to get the Mac address.

Where I'm wrong?

Hi,

Do you have enabled SimpleLink before you call this API? Make sure that you set proper size to address len (=6) and you have enough "allocated" bytes in buffer for MAC address.

It is correct a length of Mac address equal to 8? This value is returned from sl_NetCfgGet.

I read that there was a bug into NWP firmware that returns 8 as length instead 6. I read here: e2e.ti.com/.../360573

It it works with 8 bytes without returning error, then this is correct :)

So, should I declare a MAC address array of 8?

I think it should be better. I think is better wasted 2 bytes than risking a memory overflow.
