Hi ,

Does CC3100Boost come with default firmware in the flash memory or do we need to update the flash.

If so is there any other way to update the flash other than using CC3100EMUBoost.

Sai,

You must update a new CC3100 BoosterPack's flash with the 3100 SDK as it does not come with it. You must use the CC3100EMUBoost in order to do this.

slight addition - a service pack is loaded into the BoosterPack serial flash when shipped. You would load your application code, built from the CC3100 SDK into your host (micro-controller, i.e. MSP430)

Seong is correct, the easiest way to load the serial flash is using the EMUBOOST, and it allows you also interface to the radio tool.

Hi Josh and Seong,

Thanks for your inputs. What features does the service pack(which is loaded when shipped) provide ? Will i be able to connect to AP and get HTTP response ?

Sai,

The service pack is firmware that enables the CC3100's network processing capabilities so, yes, you will be able to connect to the AP and get an HTTP response. However, I would recommend that you update the service pack before you do so in case it is programmed with an older version.
